Southerndown members brave the weather in their kilts
Three brave souls at Southerndown
Three brave souls at Southerndown

Regular members of Southerndown Golf Club rubbed their eyes in disbelief when three golfers wearing Welsh kilts appeared on the first tee during a recent competition.

A certain loss of dignity would have appeared inevitable if the usual strong breeze over the Downs had been in evidence, but mercifully the early Spring weather was at its most benign.

The trio were members of the Glamorgan Farmers' Golf Society, namely Geraint Davies, David Harris and Mike Lee (pictured) and their dare raised more than £3,000 in sponsorship for the Alzheimer's Society. Glyn Watts-Jones generously sponsored many of the prizes and Andrew Thomas won the main event, the Southerndown Cup, with 41 Stableford points.

If any of our readers would like to make a donation to the Alzheimer's Society they can do this by going to the N.F.U. Office in Verity's Court, Cowbridge.
